Theresa, I am so sorry for your loss; the world has lost a wonderful man and role model. But heaven has gained a saint. I wish there was something I could say to ease your pain. You know Uncle Darrell more than any of us, I personally witnessed the unconditional love you had for each other. Just know that He and Aunt Marie are rejoicing with the Lord. Some of my fondest childhood memories are of my fathers family in the great state of Missouri. I remember sleeping in the attic room, watching in awe as you played the piano, feeding the chickens, drinking sweet tea and that wonderful southern drawl of Aunt Marie's when she'd say my name "Susie". I loved walking to the five and dime, from Grandma Oliphant's, in Mountain Grove, to buy treasures; the wonderful, home cooked meals, fit for Kings. I remember feeling the spirit move me, as uncle Darrell delivered a message, on a scorching August day. These are memories that live forever. They are over forty years old and are as vivid as yesterday. When I was five, we came to visit and had a Bar-B-Q at aunt Jewels. I fell asleep and my parents forgot me. Keep in mind we lived in Michigan. I was petrified, but aunt Jewell made me feel special that I had extra time with her. Aunt Ruth and I were close, and I have to admit she was my favorite Aunt. She lived just down the road until I was twelve; and she was the most fashionable woman I knew. I missed her terribly when she and Uncle Carl moved to Orrick. The Oliphant family has always been a large, loving family. Just know that my prayers are with you; and always thank God for the wonderful family he blessed you with.
Susan Oliphant.
