He was born and raised near Conway, Missouri, and received his education there. He worked as a lineman for Laclede Electric for many years, and then was employed by Lowe Boats in Lebanon and later G-3 Boats for several years. He had also worked for M.F.A. Propane Company, and drove a school bus for a time. His last business endeavor was running a bait and tackle shop near Bennett Spring, where he loved repairing fishing reels and listening to the many fish stories.
Darrell made his profession of faith in Christ as a young man, and became a Freewill Baptist minister in 1973. He had served as Pastor of many area churches including, New Home, Gardner, Porter Chapel, Union Mission, and Sunnyview. He possessed a Pastor’s heart and was always willing to help others in any way he could.
He enjoyed being outdoors where he liked coon hunting in his younger years, but his true passion for most of his life was fishing. He was a hard worker and a devoted family man, who enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Darrell was a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and uncle, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and know that he will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by all those whose lives he has touched.
