She was born and raised in Wayne, Nebraska, and graduated from high school there. She then attended Wayne State Teachers College for a short time before beginning a career as a school teacher in rural schools in Nebraska. After she and Howard were married, they moved to Lebanon, Missouri, and began lovingly raising their family. A few years later, they moved to a farm near Grovespring, Missouri, and Reva went back to teaching in rural schools around that area. She then taught at Grovespring Elementary for twenty-nine years, and during this time she earned her B.S. Degree in Education from Drury University in Springfield. She retired in 1990, after thirty-nine and one half years in the education field. In 1981, Reva and Howard moved back to his family farm, near Lebanon, and Reva became a volunteer tutor for the Lebanon Literacy Council for several years.
Reva made her profession of faith in Christ early in her life, and was an active member of Oak Grove Baptist Church for many years.
She was a life member and Past Commander of the Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary. In her spare time she was an avid reader, and liked watching challenging television game shows. She was also a talented painter and had done many beautiful oil paintings throughout the years. She and Howard always planted a garden each spring and Reva would can their homegrown produce. Her family was very important to her and she especially enjoyed all of her grandchildren.
Reva was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, sister, and aunt, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and her accomplishments and will cherish the wonderful memories she created for her family and friends during her lifetime.
