She departed this life Sunday, February 3, 2008, in St. John’s Hospital, in Springfield, Missouri, at the age of eighty-seven years, three months, and twenty-two days. On January 1, 1940, she was united in marriage to Kenneth J. Oldfield, and to this union two daughters and two sons were born. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Kenneth, on November 14, 2001; an infant son; and a sister, Constance Wicks. Rhoda is survived by a son, David Oldfield, of Lebanon, Missouri; two daughters, Dorothy Moszocki, of Port Royal, Virginia, and Diann Fein, of Lebanon, Missouri; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a sister, Violet Clark, of Sabastian, Florida; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends. She was born in Canada and lived in Nova Scotia until she was five years old. She then moved with her family to Rhode Island where she attended school. After meeting Kenneth in the late 1930’s, they were married on January 1, 1940, and made their home in Rhode Island. For several years, besides being a devoted homemaker to her husband, Rhoda was also a concert violinist. In 1946, the family moved to southeast Massachusetts and made their home in Rehoboth. The family later moved to Los Angeles, California where they lived for several years. Soon after Kenneth’s retiring, he and Rhoda moved to Lebanon, Missouri and made their home. Rhoda was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and enjoyed helping with bingo. She loved music, liked to sing, and was an accomplished violinist. In her spare time, she enjoyed following politics and working all kinds of puzzles. Her family was very important to her and she especially enjoyed her grandchildren. Rhoda was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and aunt, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and will cherish the wonderful memories she created for her family and friends. Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, February 9, 2008, in the Holman-Howe Funeral Home, Lebanon. Visitation will follow the service.
