Richard Allen's Obituary
Richard E. Allen, son of Johnny and Betty Hillig Allen, was born April 9, 1952, in Kansas City, Missouri. He departed this life Sunday, December 7, 2008, in St. Joseph Hospital, in Hot Springs, Arkansas, at the age of fifty-six years, seven months, and twenty-eight days. He was preceded in death by his parents; and three sisters, Sue Squire, and two infants, Roberta and Lorena Allen. Richard is survived by a daughter, Christina Allen, of Arkadelphia, Arkansas; two sons, Robert Allen, of Okolona, Arkansas, and Steve Allen, of Kansas City, Missouri; seven grandchildren; a brother, Robert Allen, of Kansas City, Missouri; two sisters, Vivian Shivers, of Independence, Missouri, and Clysta Allen, of Little Rock, Arkansas; a number of nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends. He was born and raised in the Kansas City, Missouri area and graduated from Van Horn High School. He then earned his Bachelor of Science Degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Missouri. He worked as a police officer for the Kansas City Police Department and for Jackson County Police Department for several years. He had made his home in the Lebanon and Camdenton area for a few years, and had been living in Arkansas for the last ten years. Richard had made his profession of faith in Christ early in his life. In his spare time he enjoyed fishing, watching all kinds of car racing, and riding motorcycles. His family was very important to him and he especially enjoyed his grandchildren. He possessed a strong commanding personality, but also had a wonderful sense of humor. Richard was a loving father, grandfather, brother, and uncle, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and his accomplishments and will treasure the memories he made for his family and friends. Graveside services will be held at 10:30 am Thursday at the Ira Cemetery. Visitation is Wednsday evening 7-8:30 pm at the funeral home under the direction of the Holman-Howe Funeral Home Lebanon, Missouri.
