Richard Carter (Bolivar)'s Obituary
Richard Carter, 78, of Humansville, MO passed away Friday, October 21, 2016 at Citizens' Memorial Hospital in Bolivar, MO.
Richard was born June 7, 1938 in Riverside, California to Lloyd and Maybelle Carter. As a young man, Richard was drawn to the waves of the West Coast, and the world was his oyster. He enjoyed surfing, and even earned honors for swimming.
Richard served his country proudly as a member of the United States Air Force, volunteering to serve as a chaplain’s assistant.
Richard spent his life giving to others, whether through his work with the Boy Scouts of America, his time at the U.S. Department of Education, or working with the homeless in Kansas City. His work earned him a title he was most proud of, Honorary Texan. He also enjoyed his yearly occupation as the Santa Claus of Crown Center in Kansas City.
Richard was a talented vocalist, and performed in many shows in Kansas City. Having earned his degree in vocal performance, he was a gifted opera singer, and took every chance he had to bring his own special music into the world.
As he aged, Richard was not one to let life slip away. He made sure he stayed up to date on all the newest technology, frequently showing his skills with his iPad.
Richard’s spark was one that lit the whole world around him, and he will be dearly missed.
Richard is survived by his loving husband, Richard Page, his sons, Chris Carter, Wes Carter, and Dan Carter, as well as his daughter, Janet Carter.
The family of Richard Carter will hold a private memorial service in honor of Richard at the home of Wes and Jody Carter at 406 McKenzie Place, Rockwall, TX, Sunday October 30 at 1 PM.
