Richard D.'s Obituary
Richard Donald Lane, Sr., son of William Fredrick and Katherine C. Wonderley Lane, was born November 24, 1920 in Joplin, Missouri. He departed this life Thursday, August 23, 2007 in Lake Ozark Retirement Center, Osage Beach, Missouri, at the age of eighty-six years, eight months and thirty days. On March 5, 1971 in Kansas City, Kansas, he was united in marriage to Irene Mae “Renee” Lane. Together they shared thirty-one years before her passing on November 29, 2002. He was also preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Katherine Baker; and a brother, Billy Lane. Surviving are a son, Richard Donald Lane, Jr. and wife, Leslye, of Placitas, New Mexico; six grandchildren, Tonya Horton, Daniel Lane, Donna Agrusa, Madilyn Boothe, Philip Byrd and Kelly Bradley; a sister, Marjorie Mitchell and husband, John, of Humansville, Missouri; two sisters-in-law, Alene Davis of Montreal, Missouri and Louise Davidson of Lenexa, Kansas; brother-in-law, Gene Davis and wife, Madeline, of Garden City, Missouri; a niece, Wendy Ruble and husband, Terry, of Montreal, Missouri; a nephew, Larry Davis and wife of Garden City, Missouri; and two great-nieces, Valorie Rudolph of Montreal, Missouri and Tiffany Rudolph of Linn Creek, Missouri. Richard worked for Hipsch Men Clothing and then for North American Aviation in the machine gun division for a short time. He served his country proudly in the U.S. Army during World War II. After being honorably discharged, he began a career with Hallmark Cards. He was the first forklift operator for Hallmark and retired after thirty years of service to the company. He and his wife retired to the lake area in the mid 1970’s. He made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of Buffalo Prairie Baptist Church in Montreal. In his spare time he enjoyed fishing, hunting, singing and playing with his pets. Richard was a loving father, grandfather, brother, and uncle and was a caring neighbor and friend. He touched many lives and will be missed greatly. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 28, 2007, in Garden City Cemetery, Garden City, Missouri. Visitation will be held Monday evening from 5 - 7:00 p.m. under the direction of Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Camdenton, Missouri. Memorials to the Dogwood Animal Shelter may be made through the funeral home.
