Richard "Dick" Brooks (Lebanon)'s Obituary
Richard Paul Brooks, son of Ralph and Dora Gillespie Brooks, was born December 23, 1950, in Lebanon, Missouri. He departed this life Thursday, August 30, 2018, in his home, in Lebanon, Missouri, at the age of sixty-seven years, eight, months, and seven days.
His parents preceded him in death.
Richard is survived by Cora, the mother of his children; their two daughters, Melissa Willoughby, and her husband, Aaron, and Melinda Brooks, and special friend, Jeff, all of Lebanon, Missouri; six grandchildren, Suellen, Gabriel, Tricia, Desiree, Alexis, and Marley; two brothers, Jerry Brooks, of Lebanon, Missouri, and Tom Brooks, of Sherwood, Arkansas; a niece, Bobbi; a nephew, Johnathan; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
He was born and raised in the Lebanon area. He graduated high school in 1968 and was looking forward to celebrating his 50th class reunion. Richard was proud to be a Yellow Jacket and still enjoyed attending football games and cheering on the Jackets.
Richard worked for Carol Martin Property Management Company in Springfield, Missouri for several years before he began his career at J. B. Hunt Trucking Company. He received several awards as a truck driver, including the Two Million Mile award for safe driving. He retired after twenty-seven years with the company.
Richard had made his profession of faith in Christ and was a longtime member of First Baptist Church of Lebanon. He possessed a kind heart and was willing to help anyone in need. He would always ask if you needed anything, and he meant it.
He loved his family deeply, and was a role model dad and an even better grandpa. He enjoyed spending time with his family. He loved to get together for dinner and play games. He would make everyone laugh, and he had a wonderful sense of humor. He was always the funniest guy in the room. He was so supportive and proud of all of his grandkids. He was an amazing man that will be missed dearly.
In his spare time he enjoyed playing cards, golf, bowling, and collecting quarters; although his favorite pastime was watching Jeopardy on television.
Richard was a loving father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and was a caring neighbor and friend. He made people laugh and smile everywhere he went. We celebrate his life and know that his family and friends will treasure the wonderful memories he made for them during his lifetime.
Memorial donations to St. Jude's Children's Hospital may be made through the funeral home.
