Richard "Dick" Pleggenkuhle (Lebanon)'s Obituary
Richard “Dick” Louis Pleggenkuhle, son of Louis and Norma Hucke Pleggenkuhle, was born September 20, 1937, in Sumner, Iowa. He departed this life Wednesday, October 18, 2017, in his home, near Lebanon, Missouri, at the age of eighty years, and twenty-eight days.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Steve Pleggenkuhle; and a sister, Shirley Hewitt.
Dick is survived by two daughters, Michelle Pleggenkuhle, and Myrna Niles, both of Sumner, Iowa; a son, Jim Pleggenkuhle, of Sumner, Iowa; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a sister, Treva Niedert, of Sumner, Iowa; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
He was born and raised in Sumner, Iowa and graduated for Sumner High School. He worked as a farmer and then was employed by a grain system for several years. In 1981, he moved to Lebanon, Missouri, where he worked as a carpenter and handyman for several years.
In his spare time he enjoyed spending time with his friends at the American Legion Hall. He also liked gardening and doing woodworking projects. He especially enjoyed his dog “Babe”.
Dick was a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and know that his family and friends will treasure the wonderful memories he made for them during his lifetime.
There will also be a visitation on Tuesday, October 24th from 6-8:00 p.m
at S.K. Rogers Funeral Home in Sumner, Iowa.
Burial will be in St. John's Lutheran Cemetery.
