Richard E. Henery (Lebanon)'s Obituary
Richard Edward Henery, son of Robert Louis and Violet June Dean Henery, was born May 22, 1935, in Neligh, Nebraska. He departed this life Thursday, January 10, 2013, in Barnes Jewish Hospital, in St. Louis, Missouri, at the age of seventy-seven years, seven months, and eighteen days.
On December 1, 1976, he was united in marriage to Sandra Sue Lange, and they shared the last forty years.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Robert Henery; two brothers, Carl and Ralph Henery; and a sister, Helen Henery.
Richard is survived by his wife, Sandra, of the home; his children, Linda Milne, and her husband, James, of Creighton, Nebraska, Richard Henery, Jr., and his wife, Cheryl, of Neligh, Nebraska, Stephen Henery, and his wife, Shirley, of Brunswick, Nebraska, Susan Henery Finkral, of Leigh, Nebraska, Ronald Belz, and his wife, Betty, of Plato, Missouri, Dawn Fletcher, and her husband, Steve, of Rockaway Beach, Missouri, Shannon Henery, and her fiancé, David Taul, of Forsyth, Missouri, Floyd P. Henery, and his wife, Laura, of Plato, Missouri, and Corey Henery, and his wife, Sarah, of Lebanon, Missouri; a number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren; two brothers, Harold Henery, of Neligh, Nebraska, and Michael Henery, of Omaha, Nebraska; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
He was born and raised in Neligh, Nebraska and received his education there. He entered the military as a young man and served his country faithfully in the United States Army for over twenty years. He entered toward the last of the Korean War and had two tours of duty in Korea, two in Germany, and also was stationed in Greenland and several locations stateside. After retiring on January 31, 1975, he and Sandra moved to Forsyth, Missouri for several years, and Richard worked for a lawn mowing service there. They then moved back to Nebraska for a time before eventually settling near Plato, Missouri. He had also worked for an auctioneer at one time.
Richard had made his profession of faith in Christ and attended Pine Creek Baptist Church.
He had been a member of the Lions Club. In his spare time he enjoyed fishing, hunting, and going to auctions. He had strong feelings about his American rights, and was very proud of his military service. His family was very important to him and he especially enjoyed his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Richard was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and uncle, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and know that he will be fondly remembered as a loving family man, a courageous soldier, and a good friend to many.
