Richard William Victor Hess (Lebanon)'s Obituary
Richard William Victor Hess, son of Fritz and Emma Knittel Hess, was born January 2, 1949, in Kansas City, Missouri. He departed this life Monday, February 24, 2020, in Ozark Rehabilitation Center, in Osage Beach, Missouri, at the age of seventy-one years, one month, and twenty-two days.
Early in his life he was united in marriage to Anna Marie Esther on February 9, 1975 and to this union two daughters were born.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and his wife, Anna, on July 17, 1991.
Richard is survived by two daughters, Jennifer Hess-Brown, and her husband, Rodney, of Lebanon, Missouri, and Stephanie Walker, and her husband, Daniel, of Sedalia, Missouri; three grandchildren, Cheyanne, Gene and Anna; as well as a host of other relatives and many friends.
He was raised in the Lebanon area from the age of two, and attended St. Francis DeSales Catholic School until eighth grade. He then graduated from Lebanon High School in the Class of 1967. He enrolled in an automotive technical school in Carthage where he finished his training in two years. After he and Anna were married, they made their home in Lebanon and lovingly raised their daughters. Richard worked as a mechanic for Hugh Palmer Motors for some time. He later worked for Twenter Motors for three years, then at Donald Farm and Lawn for a number of years. He was extremely gifted at motor repair.
Richard was a longtime active member of St. Francis DeSales Catholic Church where he was very involved with the church. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus for many years, and had served as a youth group leader.
He enjoyed doing volunteer work with the Red Cross, Special Olympics, and the Girls Scouts. In his younger years, he enjoyed playing baseball and bowling. His favorite activity was tinkering with anything mechanical. His family was very important to him and he especially enjoyed having time with his grandchildren.
Richard was a loving father, grandfather, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and know that he will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by all those who knew and loved him.
