Richard "Rick" Johnston (Buffalo)'s Obituary
Richard Alan “Rick” Johnston, age 82, entered into rest on Monday, May 6, 2024, at his home surrounded by his beloved family.
Rick was born on October 18, 1941, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to the late Thomas Henry and Laura Jean (Busse) Johnston. Rick served his country in the United States Navy as a corpsman. Following his time in the Navy, Rick made his career in medical recruiting. On June 11, 1966, Rick was united to the love of his life Cherile McCready. To this union, two children were born. Rick enjoyed hunting, fishing, and guns. He also found joy in roasting his own coffee starting from green beans and ending in the perfect, not too dark, brew. Above all, Rick loved being Poppy. His beloved grandchildren and great grandchildren were his entire world. He made sure to spend quality time with each grandchild, whether it be in the woods, on TV for a gun auction, or in the stands cheering them on be it baseball, cheer or dance recitals. He purchased each grandchild their first car ensuring that they were properly spoiled rotten.
Rick was a loving husband, the best dad and a devoted Poppy, he will be missed by those he leaves behind.
Rick was preceded by his parents Thomas and Jean. He is survived by his wife, Cherile Johnston, son Eric Johnston and wife Toni, daughter Heather Johnston, grandchildren Ashley Bennett and husband Clayton, Zach Potthoff and wife Hayley, Caleb Potthoff, Alexandar Johnston, Gwendolyn Shelly, Jay Johnston, seven great grandchildren, and many beloved friends.
There will be no formal services at this time.
