Richard Lee McCarthy (Bolivar)'s Obituary
Richard Lee McCarthy was born on July 9, 1926, in Polk County, Missouri, to Emma (Krejci) McCarthy and John “Jack” McCarthy. On the morning of January 21, 2018, he passed away peacefully.
Richard grew up on the family farm north of Bolivar, where he graduated from Bolivar High School. On May 25, 1946, Richard was joined in marriage to Mavis Ballinger, and from this union four sons were born. Over the years Richard bought and sold real estate, but his proudest accomplishment was being a lifelong farmer. Throughout his life, Richard was a role model for those who worked beside him, and by his example he instilled a very strong work ethic in his children and grandchildren.
Richard is preceded in death by his parents, eleven brothers and sisters, and his sons, Donnie, Wayne, and Charles.
Richard is survived by his wife Mavis, of the home; one brother, Bob McCarthy, and his wife Sally, of Lompoc, California; one son, Larry McCarthy, of Buffalo, Missouri; one daughter-in-law, Michele McCarthy, of Tahlequah, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Heather McDaniel Becker, and husband, Brett, of Mack’s Creek, Missouri, Amber Abercrombie, and husband, Jeff, of Buffalo, Missouri, Jeremy McCarthy, and wife, Kali, of Halfway, Missouri, Brandon McCarthy, and wife, Leslie, of Buffalo, Missouri, Colt McCarthy, and wife, Daphne, of Austin, Texas, Nocona Williams, and husband, Tyler, of Tahlequah, Oklahoma, Ace McCarthy, and wife, Jessica, of Tahlequah, Oklahoma, and Sean McCarthy, of Liberty, Missouri; and seventeen great-grandchildren. The family would like to extend a special thanks to a special family friend, Melissa Ford, for the love and care she gave Richard over the past few years.
