Richard Weldon Nicodemus (Buffalo)'s Obituary
Richard “Nick” Weldon Nicodemus was born on July 24, 1943, at home in Foose, Missouri to Jesse Earl and April Maxine (Lilley) Nicodemus. Richard departed this life on October 7, 2023, to meet his Lord and Savior Jesus. He was at the time of his passing 80 years 2 months and 13 days old.
Richard grew up on the family farm and as a young boy while laying in bed, Richard was saved by the grace of God. He was later baptized and was a lifetime member of Bible Baptist Church in Buffalo, Missouri. Richard attended the Foose Community School House through the eighth grade. He completed his education at Buffalo High School where he enjoyed singing in mixed chorus, Glee Club, and Boys Glee Club. After graduation he attended Southwest Missouri State University for one year majoring in music. Richard had a God given talent for singing, using his voice to profess his faith. He sang in the church choir, at numerous funerals and weddings.
Richard served in the United States Army from 1967-1973. While serving in Alaska, he married Linda Bonner, through this union they were blessed with one daughter, Shannon Nicole.
On August 14, 1987, Richard married the love of his life, Barbara Horton who brought to the union two children, Patricia and Robin. Richard was a devoted husband, father, son, and brother. Caring for his parents until their passing. Richard was humble and kind, always going out of his way to help his fellow man.
Richard was a long-haul truck driver and farmer. He retired with Yellow after driving for 25 years and spent his retirement on the family farm.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents and wife Barbara Nicodemus. He is survived by three daughters, Shannon Nicole Nicodemus of Buffalo, Missouri, Patricia St. Clair of Bolivar, Missouri, Robin Coulter and husband Ron of Jerico Springs, Missouri; one sister Kathy Foresee and husband Jim; 10 grandchildren he was very proud of, Naboth St. Clair (Jennifer), Ryan Coulter (Elisabet), Caleb St. Clair (Leslie), Camden Coulter (Margarita), Brennan Coulter (Shelby), Ryan Hallemeier, Sarah Hallemeier-Fahey (Ben), Hannah Schemmer (Wesley), Chayson Coulter, Bryson Coulter (Kira); 19 great-grandchildren, with one on the way; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are asked to be given to the Alzheimer’s Association.
Funeral service is scheduled for 11 am on Monday, October 16, 2023, at Bible Baptist Church in Buffalo, Missouri. Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 15, 2023, from 6-8 pm at Cantlon-Otterness & Viets Funeral Home, Buffalo. Richard will be laid to rest at Church Grove Cemetery in Foose, Missouri with full military honors.
