Richard Porter's Obituary
Richard Dean Porter, son of Roy Lee and Doris Jean Mings Porter, was born July 27, 1962, in Lebanon, Missouri. He departed this life Sunday, June 3, 2007, in his home, in Crocker, Missouri, at the age of forty-four years, ten months, and six days. He was preceded in death by his father; and his wife, Angelina Chambers Porter. Richard is survived by two daughters, Sera Porter and Mae Porter, both of Crocker, Missouri; two sons, Richard Porter, Jr. and Ethan Porter, both of Lebanon, Missouri; a grandson, Michael; his mother, Doris Porter, of Springfield, Missouri; four sisters, Cindy Jones, and her husband, Larry, of Seymour, Missouri, Jo Sharp, and her husband, Jim, of Dixon, Missouri, Vicky Boiko, and her husband, Vladimir, of Greeley, Colorado, and Loretta Sweeney, of Wichita, Kansas; a number of nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends. He was born and raised in the Lebanon community, and lived most of his life in the Lebanon area. Since Angelina’s passing, he had made his home in Crocker, Missouri. He worked for the Independent Stave Company for several years, and also had been a farmhand on the Deb Long Farms. Richard had made his profession of faith in Christ and was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church in Lebanon. In his spare time he enjoyed attending sales and collecting knives. Although he had several health problems for the last several years, he bore his illness with great courage and determination. His family was very important to him and he especially enjoyed spending time with his children. Richard was a loving father, grandfather, son, brother, and uncle, and was a caring neighbor and friend. He will be greatly missed, but the memories he made for his family and friends will live on forever in their hearts. He suffered on this earth….but now he has his reward. Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, June 7, 2007, in the Holman-Howe Funeral Home, Lebanon. Visitation will follow the service. Services are under the direction of Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Lebanon, Missouri.
