Richard "Ricky" Barnett, Sr. (Lebanon)'s Obituary
Richard Allen Barnett, Sr., son of Leslie and Dora Mizer Barnett, was born December 31, 1955, in Lebanon, Missouri. He departed this life Friday, March 23, 2018, in Mercy Hospital, in Lebanon, Missouri, at the age of sixty-two years, two months, and twenty-three days.
On April 12, 1975, he was united in marriage to Debra Ann Branch, and to this union two daughters and four sons were born.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Travis Barnett; and two brothers, J. E. and Tommy Barnett.
“Ricky”, as he was called by his family and friends, is survived by his loving wife of forty-two years, Debra, of the home; two daughters, Samantha Vance, and her husband, Beau, and Amanda Barnett, and her fiancé, Mike Boggs, all of Lebanon, Missouri; three sons, Ricky Barnett, Jr., and his wife, Jennifer, Chris Barnett, and his significant other, Teri Roger, all of Lebanon, Missouri, and John Barnett, and his significant other, Nikki Magnes, of Hartville, Missouri; eleven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a brother, Leslie Barnett, of Grovespring, Missouri; two sisters, Ellen Hopkins, and Teresa Starr, both of Lebanon, Missouri; a sister-in-law, Cathy Barnett, of Lebanon, Missouri; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
He was born and raised in the Lebanon area and attended Lebanon R-III Schools. After he and Debra were married, they made their home near Falcon, and lovingly raised their family. Ricky worked on the Street Department for the City of Lebanon for twenty-six years, retiring in 2016.
Ricky had made his profession of faith in Christ and recently rededicated his life to Christ at the Lebanon Family Church.
In his spare time he enjoyed being outdoors where his favorite activities were fishing and camping. He also liked watching Westerns on television. He was very gifted at repairing things and could fix almost anything. His family was very important to him and he especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Ricky was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and know that his family and friends will treasure the wonderful memories he made for them during his lifetime.
Memorial donations to St. Jude's Children's Hospital may be made through the funeral home.
