Richard Wayne Smith (Seymour)'s Obituary
Richard Wayne Smith, age 75 a long-time resident of Seymour, Missouri passed away Tuesday November 21, 2017 at Mercy Hospital in Springfield, Missouri following a short illness.
Wayne was born Monday, July 27, 1942 in Cold Springs, Missouri, one of nine children born to Paul Hazen Smith and Dora Iona (Rich) Smith. He spent his youth growing up around Booger County and Dogwood. He graduated from Ava High School. Wayne proudly served in the United States Army from 1962 to 1965. On April 28, 1962 in Ava, Missouri he was united in marriage to Barbara Ann Johns and to this union three children were born. He was of the Freewill Baptist faith.
Wayne enjoyed hunting and fishing in the great outdoors! Wayne could also be found “supervising” any manner of things! He had a real deep interest in horses and mules and enjoyed going on trail rides. His grandbabies were so special to him.
Wayne is survived by his two daughters, Carol Sue Wheeler and husband Dennis of Strafford, Missouri and Carla Ann Smith of Seymour, Missouri; a son Matthew Smith of Seymour, Missouri; four brothers Fred Smith and wife Lillian of Dodge City, Kansas, Norman Smith and wife Bessie of Marshfield, Missouri, Dean Smith of Seymour, Missouri and Rick Smith and wife Charlene of Grand Isle, Nebraska; three sisters Doris Heard of Hobbs, New Mexico, Mary Smith of Seymour, Missouri and Barbara Brooke of Seymour, Missouri; 5 grandchildren Erin (Wheeler) Dunn and husband Daniel, Cameron Wheeler, Garyth McLinn, Jonah H. Smith and Autumn R. Smith; 2 great grandchildren Delaney and Karlee as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family and friends.
Memorial contributions to the V.A. may be left at the funeral home.
