Richard Turner's Obituary
Richard Alvin Turner, Sr., son of Alvin Miles and Wilma Estelle Gilmore Turner, was born February 12, 1942, in Aitkin, Minnesota. He departed this life Friday, April 18, 2008, in St. John’s Hospital, Lebanon, at the age of sixty-six years, two months and six days. On January 22, 1972 he was united in marriage to Patricia Jo Evans. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Mildred Magnuson. Richard is survived by his wife, Patricia, of the home; his children, Richard, Jr. and wife, Sandy, of Crane, Missouri, Randy Turner and wife, Shelly, of Aitkin, Minnesota, Donna Turner, of the State of Florida, Robin Rubbelke and husband, Robert, of Aitkin, Minnesota, Scott Rian and wife, Allison, of Aitkin, Minnesota, Nick Dinger, of Aitkin, Minnesota, William Turner and wife, Bonita, of Aitkin, Minnesota, Jo Schuety and husband, Derrick, of Palisade, Minnesota, Tereasa Handberg, of New Richmond, Wisconsin, and Kimberly Turner, of New Richmond, Wisconsin; twenty grandchildren and a great-granddaughter; three sisters, Myrtle Rosecrans and Glenna Splettstoeszer, both of Crosby, Minnesota and Dorothea Gardner, of Chetek, Wisconsin; three brothers, Myrle Turner, of Hillsdale, Wisconsin, and Marlyn and Larry Turner, both of Aitkin, Minnesota; a number of nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends. He was born and reared in Aitkin, Minnesota where he attended school. He later joined the Army National Guard and went to boot camp at Fort Leonard Wood. Returning back to Aitkin, he served in the Guard for a few years. Richard and his brother, Marlyn, opened and operated Turner Brothers Construction Company, doing general dirt work until he moved to Grovespring in 2001. He ran a mobile equipment repair business for the last several years. Richard professed his faith in Christ and attended the White Dove Fellowship Church. His family was precious to him and he especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. His big-hearted spirit was always evident to all those around him. He had a special gift of creating things through recycling. He enjoyed traveling and sight seeing, watching television, and going on outings. His greatest pleasure was found while drinking coffee and visiting with friends at the café. Richard was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and brother, and a caring neighbor and friend. He will be fondly remembered and greatly missed. We celebrate his life, and the memories he created will live in our hearts forever. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 22, 2008, in the Holman-Howe Funeral Home, Hartville. Visitation will be held Monday evening from 7 - 8:30 p.m. under the direction of Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Hartville, Missouri. Return to top
