Rickey Cornelison (Lebanon)'s Obituary
Rickey Lee Cornelison, son of James L. and Sherla Summers Cornelison, was born November 11, 1952, in Summersville, Missouri. He departed this life Monday, July 1, 2019, in North Kansas City Hospital, in North Kansas City, Missouri, at the age of sixty-six years, seven months, and twenty days.
Rickey is survived by a son, James Edward Cornelison, and his wife, Sonya, of Richland, Missouri; two grandchildren, Ella and Emma; a step-granddaughter, Lauren; his parents, James and Sherla Cornelison, of Lebanon, Missouri; a brother, Mickey Cornelison, and his wife, Sandy, of Kansas City, Missouri; two sisters, Connie Sue Myers, and her husband, Larry, of Gladstone, Missouri, and Karen Rust, and her husband, John, of Lebanon, Missouri; a special aunt, Beverly Cornelison; a number of nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
He was raised in the Lebanon, Missouri area, and graduated from Lebanon High School in the Class of 1970. While in high school, Rickey was active in sports, and particularly track and field events. He holds the record in pole vaulting to this day. He worked for the Lebanon Coca-Cola Bottling Company for a time and then moved to Kansas City, Missouri, where he began a career in real estate. He worked for the Caldwell Bankers Real Estate Company for several years. He later opened and operated a roofing contracting business which he operated for thirty years.
Rickey followed the Baptist faith throughout the years.
In his spare time he enjoyed being outdoors where his favorite activities were hunting, fishing, and gardening. He also was an avid darts player. He possessed a good sense of humor and loved to joke and kid. He was always there when he was needed and loved his family dearly.
Rickey was a loving father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and know that his family and friends will treasure the wonderful memories he has made for them during his lifetime.
