Rickey J. McCanless (Hartville)'s Obituary
Rickey “Justin” McCanless, son of Rickey Ruble McCanless and Vicki Gale Coday, was born December 21, 1983. He departed this life Tuesday, September 30, 2014, at Mercy Hospital in Springfield, Missouri, at the age of thirty years, nine months, and eight days.
Rickey was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Ruble McCanless; paternal great-grandparents, Elton and Sybil Hipps, and Edward and Evalee McCrite; step grandfather, Larry Joe Coday; and step grandparents Laborn and Ruby Jones.
He is survived by his mother, Vicki Coday and husband Bruce, of Hartville, Missouri; father, Rickey McCanless of Blytheville, Arkansas; his twin boys, Devon and Riley McCanless; sisters, Tawny McNeil of Hartville, and Victoria Delcour and husband Clayton, of Falcon, Missouri; brother, Trevor McCanless of Hartville; maternal grandmother, Joan McCrite of Mansfield; maternal grandfather, Elton Hipps of Hartville; paternal grandmother, Ethel Hurt of Jonesboro, Arkansas; step grandmother, Wilma Long of Hartville; significant other, Jasmine King and her daughter Khloey; a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, a nephew, many cousins and many more dear friends.
Rickey was born in Phoenix, Arizona, and moved to Hartville at a young age. He attended Hartville High School until moving to Arkansas. During his time in Arkansas, he was a self-employed concrete contractor, which he very much enjoyed.
While living in Hartville, Rickey attended the Hartville Assembly of God Church.
In his spare time, Rickey enjoyed hunting and fishing. He also loved to cruise country roads. He cherished the times he spent with family and friends. Rickey especially enjoyed being a father and spending time with his boys. He liked to cook, especially on the grill, but nothing compared to his Momma’s chicken and dumplings. Rickey always had a smile on his face. He would always greet you with a hug no matter how long it had been since paths had crossed.
Rickey was a loving son, father, grandson, brother, and uncle. We will always cherish the memories with him and celebrate his life on earth. Rickey will never be forgotten and will live forever in our hearts.
Though Rickey’s life ended much too soon, he gave the precious gift of life to others by being an organ donor. A 16 year-old boy received his heart and a 58 year-old man received his liver.
Memorials may be made to the family, and may be left at Holman-Howe Funeral Home Hartville, Mo.
