Ricky J. Greenwald (Buffalo)'s Obituary
Ricky J Greenwald passed on November 23rd, 2024. He was born October 25, 1955, in
Buffalo, Missouri. His father, John George Greenwald was in the Army and his mother, Jeanette
Violet Greenwald nee Scott was a nurse. Ricky was the seventh son, and followed his father’s
footsteps into the military. He joined the Navy straight out of high school and while in the Navy
pursued his BS in aeronautics and business admin from Embry-Riddle.
He traveled all over the world and had stories about every continent, but his favorite stories
were about meeting his wife, Iris Wilkerson. They met in Washington State when they were 19
and were happily married until she passed in 2018 after 42 years of marriage. He missed her
every day.
He loved cars, computers, shooting, hunting, and guitar. He was obsessed with a car that he
and a buddy had bought in the early 70’s - a Dodge Superbee - which he forever regretted
selling. It was a souped-up, heavily modified muscle car, and at one point he did 70 MPH, spun
out and ended up backwards in a ditch. Mostly by accident.
Ricky Greenwald was preceded by his Father and Mother, his older Sister Jan Clark, his older
brother Donald Devore, and of course his wife Iris.
He had two wonderful sons, Erik and Shaun, with Iris and was a caring father and husband, a
devoted grandfather, and an admirable man in every regard, who will be loved and missed by
his children, his siblings, and all who were lucky enough to know him. His surviving brother and
sisters are Gary Greenwald, Dolodes Summers, Carmen Bostic, and Karen Crawford.
Visitation will be 11 am on Thursday, May 1st at Cantlon, Otterness & Viets in Buffalo MO (931 W Main St,
Buffalo, MO 65622). Urns will be laid to rest at 2:45 pm on May 1st and full internment on May
1st at 3pm Missouri Veterans Cemetery (5201 S Southwood Rd, Springfield, MO 65804).
