Robbie Ash (Bolivar)'s Obituary
Robbie Jean “Bobbie” Yeager was born January 10, 1929, in Hickory Co., Mo., the daughter of Prentis Dale and Edith Elizabeth (Emmett) Yeager. She passed away at John Knox Village Care Center, Lee’s Summit, on October 29, 2016 at the age of 87.
Bobbie graduated from Humansville High School in 1946. In the next few years, she moved to Kansas City where she worked for Sears Roebuck as a clerk in their main warehouse and then for many years as the office secretary for The Weekly Shopper. She retired following ten years as receptionist in the medical office of Dr. Janis Steinbrecher in Lee’s Summit. She was active in the American Business Women’s Association and in 1986 proudly accepted the Serendipity Chapter's Woman of the Year award.
She and Merle Lee Ash were married in 1951 and for the next 18 years. Their son, Gary Steven Ash, was born in 1953 and lived one day.
Bobbie loved traveling in the West and the Great Plains where her favorite place in the world was anywhere in the Rocky Mountains. Her nieces enjoyed many, many trips with Bob and Merle to Colorado and the Rockies. Later she traveled there with her lifelong friends, Barbara Kline and Martha Stebelton, and others.
Bobbie was preceded in death by her son, her parents, step-father, Orla Emerson Cooper, sister, Lena Mae Downs, and brother, Edwin Dale (Patsy) Yeager. She is survived by two nieces, Ruby Sharon Downs, Wildwood, Mo., and Rhonda Jean (Ron) Hughes, Lee’s Summit, Mo., sister-in-law, Mary Yeager, Bolivar, Mo., and step-daughter, Karen (Scaletty) Evans, Stillwell, KS
A graveside funeral service, with the Rev. Emily Hillquist Davis officiating, is scheduled for Tuesday, November 1, 2016, at 2:00pm, in Flemington Cemetery, Flemington, Mo., where she will be laid to rest beside her son, “Stevie.”
