Rober 's Obituary
Dr. Robert Lynn “Doc” Lyle, D.V.M. of Bolivar, MO passed away Saturday, February 21, 2009 after a long battle with Parkinson’s Disease. He was 85. “Doc” was an avid equestrian, raising, training, and showing Missouri Fox trotting horses. He was a 1951 graduate of the University of Missouri School of Veterinary Medicine and was a large animal veterinarian for many years in Appleton City, MO. He retired in 1986 as a Veterinary Medical Officer for the United States Department of Agriculture. Dr. Lyle was born February 12, 1924 in Butler, MO. He served in the U. S. Army 75th Infantry Division during the Belgian Bulge of World War II. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert J. and Addie B. Lyle, two sisters, and a granddaughter, Emily. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Margie Lue (Chapman) Lyle; their daughters, Marilyn Pippin of Broken Arrow, OK; Linda and husband Charles Minor of Leawood, KS; Susan and husband Kelly Stacy of Hartford, CT; their son, Robert and his wife Debi Lyle of Orlando, FL; his sister, Betty Noe of Independence, MO; six grandchildren, Matt and Todd Stacy, Katie Pippin, and Lauren, Logan and Paige Lyle. “Doc” was a member of the Community of Christ Church in Humansville, MO, the Bolivar Saddle Club, the Missouri Fox Trot Horse Association, and the Mid-American Fox Trot Association. He was also an ardent Missouri Tigers Football and Basketball fan. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 PM Monday, February 23, 2009 at the Butler Funeral Home Chapel in Bolivar. Graveside Funeral Services will e held at 11:00 AM Tuesday, February 24, 2009 at the Fairview Cemetery, Butler, MO. Arrangements are under the direction and care of the Butler Funeral Home of Bolivar. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made in his name to St. John’s Hospice Care, 1378 East Republic Rd., Springfield, MO or the Community Of Christ Church, 205 West Mill Street, Humansville, MO.
