Robert Albers' Obituary
Robert Dale Albers, age 84, of Halfway, Missouri passed away on Thursday evening, June 16, 2011 at Citizen?s Memorial Healthcare Facility in Bolivar, Missouri after a courageous bout with cancer.
He was born on May 21, 1927 in Union, South Dakota to Herman Jacob Albers and Mary (Napier) Albers.
On July 1, 1948 he married Bonnie B. Sherwood in New Mexico.
Robert first served in the Merchant Marines, and then served in the United States Air Force for 20 years, retiring as Chief Master Sergeant in December 1972, having earned the coveted Bronze Star, among numerous other awards. He then worked for the State of Missouri Department of Agriculture for 20 years retiring in 1994. He was a member and treasurer of the Halfway Lions Club and the American VFW Post in Buffalo, Missouri.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers & sisters, Rose French, Ed Ramsey, James Ramsey, Ruby Thompson, John Albers, Ruth Greene and Earl Ramsey.
Robert is survived by his wife, Bonnie B. Albers of the home, three daughters, Debbie Eversoll and her husband David of Halfway, Missouri, Janet Wells and her husband Roger of West York, Illinois, Candy Phillips of Austin, Texas, a half-sister, Jessica Cazarez of Nixa, Missouri, seven grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held at 10:00am, Monday, June 20, 2011at the Missouri Veteran?s Cemetery in Springfield, Missouri with Chaplain James O. Friend officiating with Full Military Honors with Pallbearers provided by Whiteman Air Force Base of Knob Noster, Missouri under the care and direction of the Butler Funeral Home in Bolivar, Missouri. Visitation will be held from 5:00-6:30pm, Sunday evening at the funeral home. Honorary Pallbearers will be David Eversoll, Roger Wells, James Kenny, and Don Self.
