Robert N. Barker (Hartville)'s Obituary
Robert “Bob” Barker, beloved husband of Jayma Barker, departed this earthly life Tuesday, January 20, 2015, at Mercy Hospital in Lebanon, Missouri. Bob was eighty-two years and nine days of age.
One of six children, he was born Robert Neal Barker on January 11, 1933, in Wright County, Missouri, to Walter Barker and Pheronia Jemes Barker. He was raised and lived most of his years in Wright County except for some time in the military. Bob proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army.
Bob married Jayma Marie Beasley on September 22, 1972, and they continued to build a life in the Grovespring area. Bob was a full-time farmer, but also worked outside the home. He hauled lime and fertilizer in the area for many years. Bob also drove a school bus for the Grovespring school district. After retiring, he truly enjoyed going to coffee and visiting with friends. He was a tinkerer, always working on lawn mowers and the occasional car and truck. He also loved to mow and had many lawns mowed for family and friends alike when they got home from work.
In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by his daughter, Cindy Williams; his son, Jim Barnes; his brother, Norman Barker; and a sister, Patsy Castillo.
He leaves behind his devoted wife of forty-two years, Jayma Barker of the home in Grovespring; children, Brent Barker and wife, Teresa; Janice Coltrane and husband, Randy; Kristy Sherrer and husband, Josh; and Jeanne Dugger and husband, Jonathon – all of Grovespring; eleven grandchildren, Chasity Lacheny, Jessi Boyd, Levi Barker, Ethan Barnes, Misty Catalano, Ally Coltrane, Mykayla Sherrer, Delaney Dugger, Kaleb Sherrer, Noah Boyd and Chloe Dugger; a number of great-grandchildren; three sisters, Neva Fox and Nadine Hayward, both of Springfield, Missouri, and Phyllis Vold of Gravois Mills, Missouri; several nieces, nephews and extended family, and a host of dear friends and neighbors.
Robert Neal Barker was a loving husband, a caring father and grandfather and a loyal brother, friend and comrade. Bob loved his family and spending time with his grandchildren. We take this time on this day to honor a life well-lived. Bob created a lifetime of memories and moments for his family that will be treasured in their hearts forever. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
