Robert "Bob" Lee Henson (Lebanon)'s Obituary
Robert “Bob” Lee Henson, son of Truman and Anna Faye Garrison Henson, was born June 8, 1931, near Lebanon, Missouri. He departed this life Thursday, August 15, 2019, in Lebanon, Missouri, at the age of eighty-eight years, two months, and six days.
On November 3, 1954, he was united in marriage to Virginia “Marie” Deckard, and to this union four daughters and three sons were born.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Marie, on August 25, 2010; and two grandsons, Kyle Henson and Harold Ray Buttram.
Bob is survived by four daughters, Luanna Terry, and her husband, Ron, Robin Coday, and her husband, Gary, all of Phillipsburg, Missouri, Tonya Buttram, and her husband, Edgar, of Conway, Missouri, and Rachel Brumley, and her husband, Larry, of Lebanon, Missouri; three sons, Danny Henson, and his wife, Barbre, Truman Henson, and his wife, Treash, and Gary Henson, all of Lebanon, Missouri; ten grandchildren; a number of great-grandchildren; two sisters, Nellie Peppers, of Richland, Missouri, and Sue Watson, of Lebanon, Missouri; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
He was born and raised in the Lebanon, Missouri area, and graduated from Lebanon High School. He then worked as a logger for Pepper’s Lumber Company for several years. He served his country faithfully in the United States Army from 1952 until 1954, during the Korean War. He was honorably discharged with the rank of Sergeant. He returned to the Lebanon area and he and Marie made their home on their farm and lovingly raised their family. Bob operated his farm and also owned a gas station for many years with Bobby Joe Sherrer.
Bob made his profession of faith in Christ at the age of eighty and was a member of New Hope Primitive Baptist Church, near Long Lane. He was always willing to give a helping hand to those in need.
In his spare time he enjoyed being outdoors where he liked to go fishing and coon hunting. He also enjoyed taking long walks and liked playing cards with his favorite game being Pitch. He always liked to be busy and for several years he enjoyed volunteering his time at the Dotson Cemetery work days. His family was very important to him and he especially loved time with his children and grandchildren.
Bob was a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and know that his family and friends will treasure the wonderful memories he made for them during his lifetime.
Visitation for Mr. Henson will be held Sunday, Aug. 18 from 4 - 5:30 p.m. at Holman-Howe Funeral Home in Lebanon. Graveside services will be held Monday, Aug. 19 at 10 a.m. at Dotson Cemetery will full military rites.
A memorial has been established to Dotson Cemetery.
