Robert Wayne Chancellor (Lebanon)'s Obituary
Robert “Wayne” Chancellor, son of Robert and Betty (Jennings) Chancellor, was born August 23, 1957 in Aledo, Illinois. He departed this life Thursday, July 15, 2021, in River Oaks Care Center in Steele, Missouri, at the age of 63 years, 10 months and 23 days.
Wayne later gained a brother, Kenneth “Randy” and a sister, Geana. Wayne was raised in the Pentecostal faith and was baptized in Jesus’ name and received the Holy Ghost as a child. During Wayne’s early childhood, his family lived in the Moline, Illinois area, later transitioning to nearby rural communities. As a teen, Wayne especially liked living in Cambridge, Illinois where he attended high school and became a ranch hand on Reed’s Horse Farm. It was his boss and mentor, Avery Reed, who fostered Wayne’s lifelong love of caring for, training and riding horses. After high school, his family moved to Northeast Missouri. Wayne continued working as a farm hand, as well as being employed in factory work.
On June 16, 1982, Wayne was joined in marriage to Karen S Stein and became Dad to three lovely daughters, Teresa, Stephanie and Andrea. To Wayne and Karen’s union was added one son, Anthony “Tony” and one daughter, Jessica. Wayne ran a dairy and farmed raising horses, hogs and cattle. He was also employed by the City of Canton, Missouri in the area of water and waste management. All of Wayne’s nieces and nephews loved spending time at their Uncle Wayne’s.
Wayne had a great sense of humor. He enjoyed ice cold Pepsi, PBJ’s, Cheetos and Hershey bars. While Wayne dearly loved his horses, his greatest joy was spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren to whom he was affectionately known as “Pappy”. Later in life, Wayne moved to southeast, Missouri. While living in Senath, Missouri, Wayne worked roofing houses and building decks. While roofing a house, Wayne suffered a debilitating stroke, brain aneurysm, and heart attack.
Wayne was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Baby Girl Chancellor, as well as his father, Robert Chancellor. Wayne is survived by his wife, Karen S. (Stein) Chancellor (Canton, MO); Teresa and Andy Turgeon, daughter (Canton, MO); Stephanie Chancellor-Stein, daughter (Canton, MO); Andrea Stewart, daughter (West Palm Beach, FL); Anthony and Kenzy Chancellor, son (Canton, MO); Jessica Chancellor, daughter (Canton, MO); Betty G. (Jennings) Chancellor, mother (Eldridge, MO); Kenneth R. and Karen K. Chancellor, brother (Mulberry Grove, IL); Geana and Rick Holland, sister (Eldridge, MO), as well as two grandsons, nine granddaughters and one great-granddaughter.
We celebrate his life and know that his family and friends will hold tight to the wonderful memories he made for them during his lifetime.
