Robert Cowden's Obituary
Robert Wayne Cowden, age 72, of Flemington, Missouri departed this life on Tuesday, December 20, 2011 at his home in Flemington.
Robert Wayne was born on July 27, 1939 in Bolivar, Missouri the son of the Oren Leon Cowden and Ruby Ester (Standley) Cowden.
Robert was a man of many interests. He enjoyed the outdoors and everything that came with it. He loved wildlife, the land, and the wildflowers. Robert thoroughly enjoyed fishing and would take every opportunity to spend time casting a line.
Robert worked as a self-employed contractor for most of his career. A man of many talents, he enjoyed working with his hands. Robert was of the Baptist faith and attended the Rondo Baptist Church in Rondo, Missouri.
On January 10, 1958 Robert was united in marriage to Thelma J. Steeby. To that union was born two children, Linda and Robert Jr.
Robert is survived by his wife; Thelma Cowden of the home, a daughter; Linda Faucett and her husband Michael of Bolivar, Missouri, a son; Robert Cowden Jr. of Bolivar, four brothers; Gary Michael Cowden of Bolivar, Steven Cowden of Bolivar, Roger Cowden and his wife Charlene of Peculiar, Missouri, Jimmie Cowden of Flemington, Missouri, and Richard Cowden and his wife Bonnie of Lee Summit, Missouri, a sister; Deborah Barton and her husband Paul of Fordland, Missouri, an aunt; Gertrude Cowden of Bolivar, three granddaughters; Megan Cowden, Crystal Conley and Caley Ballard, two great-granddaughters Taylor Breesawitz, and Lakyn Breesawitz, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins that will forever miss Robert.
He is preceded in death by his parents; Oren and Ruby Cowden, his older brother; Oren Leon Cowden Jr., and a sister; Shirley McCormick.
Funeral Services for Robert will be held at 10:00am Friday, December 23, 2011 at the Butler Funeral Home in Bolivar, Missouri with Reverend Jack Sawyers officiating under the care and direction of the Butler Funeral Home.
Visitation will be held for an hour prior to service time, from 9:00-10:00am at the Butler Funeral Home.
Burial will follow at Pleasant Ridge Cemetery in Aldrich, Missouri.
