Robert Delaney (Bolivar)'s Obituary
Robert (Bob) Lee Delaney, age 91, of Lebanon, MO, (formerly of Elkhart, IN) passed away Sept 26, 2024
He was born on June 14, 1933, in Lenox, Iowa to Jesse and LaVaughn (Johnson) Delaney. He graduated from Lenox High School in 1951. Bob proudly served in the United States Army being stationed in the 5th Armored Division at Camp Chaffee, Arkansas in 1955 and also in the Field Artillery Battalion in Fort Bragg, North Carolina.
Bob retired from Henkels & McCoy after 45 plus years hauling equipment to almost every state in the U.S. to include Alaska and also Canada. After retirement Bob & Peggy spent every winter in Burnet, TX at Thunderbird Resort on Lake Thunderbird enjoying fishing. He also enjoyed wood working and gardening. He made beautiful projects such as table/chairs and doll cradles for his grandkids. In the last few years, he loved playing Bingo and was quite good at it!
Bob married Peggy (Thompson)Brown, Wooten on Nov 22, 1980. They spent a wonderful 44 years together. They lived in Elkhart, Indiana until relocating to Lebanon, Mo in 2021 due to health concerns and to be near family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his two sisters, Marie Simmons and Deloris Gaule and a son Bobby Jr.
Bob grew up in the Baptist faith and was a wonderful father, step-father, Grandpa and friend.
He is survived by his wife Peggy, stepchildren Rick (Helen) Brown of Springfield, Debbie (Ken) Pearcy of Georgetown, TX, Tami (Danny) Ealy of Camdenton, MO, Anita (Ricky) Dickson of OKC, OK and daughter Amy Reeves of Mesa, Arizona. Stepsons John Lewis, Elkhart, IN and Bill Lewis, CA, 14 grandchildren, and 12 great grandchildren. And numerous other nieces and nephews.
Bob will truly be missed by his cat Chloe who loved to sit on his lap. Also by his friends at Cedarhurst in Lebanon, MO.
The family would like to thank Good Shepherd Hospice for the unbelievable care that they provided for Bob in the last few weeks. Connie, Chelsea, Tiffany, Paul, and others were absolute angels sent from heaven for their gentle and guiding love and care.
Bob’s family also thanks the nurses and staff at Cedarhurst Senior Living Center. They are grateful for their patience, love, and support.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 8, 2024, at Butler Funeral Home in Bolivar from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM, followed by Graveside services at Pleasant Hope Cemetery taking place at 3:00 PM.
