Robert Jarrett's Obituary
Robert Eugene ?Bob? Jarrett, son of Edward Nathan and Blanche Mable Swing Jarrett, was born December 1, 1924, in Mountain Grove, Missouri. He departed this life Saturday, September 17, 2011, in his home, in Lebanon, Missouri, at the age of eighty-six years, nine months, and sixteen days.
On June 1, 1952, he was united in marriage to Wanda Lee Perkins, and to this union one son and one daughter were born.
He was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers, Harold, Webb, Vern, and Noel Jarrett, and an infant; and an infant sister, Margaret Jarrett.
Bob is survived by his loving wife of fifty-nine years, Wanda, of the home; a son, Robert Lynn Jarrett, and his wife, Sharon, of Lebanon, Missouri; a daughter, Linda Susan Jaynes, and her husband, Steve, of Lebanon, Missouri; three grandchildren, Ryan, and his wife, Karissa, Brian, and Cody; three great-grandchildren, Jadzia, Daxen, and Torias; a number of nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and many friends.
He was born and raised in the Mountain Grove, Missouri area, and graduated from Mountain Grove High School. He then served his country faithfully in the United States Army from October 26, 1944, until November 27, 1946. During World War II, he was stationed in the Philippines and also in Occupied Japan, and received an Asiatic Pacific Theater Ribbon Victory Medal, and an Army of Occupation (Japan) Medal. After being honorably discharged from the Army, he returned to Mountain Grove where he began working for the Carps Department Store. He then moved to Slater, Missouri, for a short time before he and Wanda made their home in Lebanon and lovingly raised their children. Bob was the manager of Anthony?s Department Store in Lebanon for twenty-five years.
He was a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post # 4107 in Lebanon, where he served as Commander for two years. He proudly was a member of the V.F.W. Post # 4107 Funeral Detail Honor Guard, and was the bugler for a number of years. He also belonged to the American Legion Post # 43 and the Lebanon Chamber of Commerce. He enjoyed playing on a bowling league and helping with Bingo nights at the V.F.W. He especially liked fishing in his spare time, and particularly enjoyed Crappie fishing. His family was very important to him and he and Wanda centered their life around their grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Bob was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and uncle, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and know that he will be fondly remembered as a devoted family man, a dedicated businessman, a patriotic citizen, and a good friend to many.
