Robert "Bob" Kimes (Humansville)'s Obituary
Robert (Bob) Taylor Kimes Sr. was born July 6, 1930, in Humansville, MO to Travis Jefferson Kimes and Celia Em Taylor Kimes. He graduated from Humansville High School and went on to graduate from The University of Missouri with a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture.
While attending MU he met the love of his life Jeanette Carol Hembree. They were married August 9, 1952. They shared 70 plus years together. Second Lieutenant Robert and Jeanette moved to Sacramento, California where Bob was stationed with the United States Air Force. Upon returning to Missouri, Bob left active duty and remained in the military in the Air Force Reserve, achieving the rank of Captain.
Bob began farming on the family farm, and their family began to grow. Bob and Jeanette lived in several communities in Missouri. He had careers in teaching, Soil Conservation Service and The Army Corps of Engineers. He was also a farmer throughout his life.
Bob loved all things outdoors. He loved fishing, gardening, hunting and sharing the farm with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Bob will be remembered for his gentle kindness, great sense of humor, and his love and sacrifice for his family.
Bob is preceded in death by his parents, his sweet Jeanette and his precious son Marcus Hembree Kimes. Also, his brother T.J. and sisters Ruthie and Norine.
He is survived by his children, Bobby Kimes (Cathy), Vicki Kimes, Pamela Miller (Stuart), Jeff Kimes, Julia Nelson (Mark), and Amy Stewart (Joe). He is also survived by his grandchildren, Bobby and Sarah Kimes, Alisha Flanagan (Ryan), Devin Kimes (Katherine), Nicholas Kimes (Allison), Christopher Kimes (Suzanna), Major Stuart Miller (Madison), Emily Kimes (Paige), Lyndsey Dunn (Craig), Bryan Nelson (Samantha), Jimmy Stewart, Weston Stewart (Stella); his great grandchildren, Taylor and Joey Kimes, Kaitlin Rathbun, Arabella Flanagan, Grace Ann, Emma and Maddy Kimes, Ainsley and Brenna Kimes, Wyatt and Lucy Miller, Josey and Lyla Dunn; as well as numerous special nieces, nephews and cousins.
A visitation will be held from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Sunday, March 2, 2025, at Butler Funeral Home in Humansville.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Monday, March 3, 2025, at Butler Funeral Home, with burial to follow at Humansville Cemetery.
