He departed this life Sunday, June 17, 2007, in St. John’s Hospital, in Lebanon, Missouri, at the age of sixty-two years, two months, and eighteen days. On November 20, 1986, he was united in marriage to Brenda K. Hughes, and together they shared the last twenty years. His mother preceded him in death. He was raised in Lufkin, Texas, where he graduated from high school. He served his country faithfully in the United States Air Force in 1968 and 1969, during the Vietnam War. For most of his tour of duty, he worked as an air traffic controller. Once he was honorably discharged from the Air Force, he continued working in the aeronautics field as an air traffic controller for the F.A.A. In 1976, he decided to go back to college, and earned his Bachelor of Science Degree from Our Lady of the Lake College in San Antonio, Texas. He then worked in economic development for the City of San Antonio and also sold commercial real estate for several years. In 1999, he and Brenda moved to Lebanon, Missouri, where he was the economic development specialist for Laclede Electric Cooperative. He belonged to the Lebanon Kiwanis Club and was very active in legislation initiatives for Lebanon, Laclede County, and Fort Leonard Wood issues.
