Robert Lavern Fincher (Lebanon)'s Obituary
Robert Lavern Fincher, son of Hosea Washington and Opal Rose Fincher, was born January 29, 1928, near Drew, Missouri. He departed this life Monday, December 27, 2010, in his home, in Lebanon, Missouri, at the age of eighty-two years, ten months, and twenty-eight days.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister.
Lavern is survived by a sister, Lavenia Crabtree, and her husband, Robert, of Burleson, Texas; several cousins; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
He was born and raised in the country near the Wright and Laclede County lines. He served his country faithfully in the United States Army during World War II, and was stationed in occupied Japan. For his acts of bravery and for receiving disabling injuries, he was awarded the Medal of Valor. After being honorably discharged from the Army, he returned to the family farm, where he and his father worked at other farms helping with the milking. He then lived in Kansas City for several years and worked for the Westinghouse Corporation and General Motors. He later worked for the Division of Family Services for a few years.
Lavern had made his profession of faith in Christ and was a member of the Lebanon Church of the Nazarene. He had a very deep and abiding faith in God and relied upon that through the difficult times.
He liked anything to do with farming, and enjoyed traveling. His family was very important to him and he enjoyed spending time with them.
Lavern will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by all of his family and many friends.
