He was born and raised in the Lebanon, Missouri area, and graduated from Lebanon High School. He served his country faithfully in the United States Army during World War II, and was stationed in Okinawa during part of that time. He was awarded the Purple Heart because of injuries he received in combat. After being honorably discharged from the Army, he returned to Lebanon, where he owned and operated a farm for many years. He had a dairy operation, raised cattle and hogs, and also grew various crops on his farm.
Robert made his profession of faith in Christ and joined the Words of Life Ministries when he was seventy-seven years old.
In his spare time he enjoyed reading, and was particularly fond of western novels by Louis L’Amour. He was a fan of the St. Louis Cardinals and liked watching John Wayne movies. His family was always his main priority and he especially enjoyed playing baseball with the kids on Sunday afternoons when he was younger.
Robert was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and uncle, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and his accomplishments and will treasure the wonderful memories he made for his family and friends.
