Robert Porter's Obituary
Robert Wayne Porter, son of Roy Everett and Grace E. Kinkade Porter, was born December 18, 1949, near Niangua, Missouri. He departed this life Friday, May 15, 2009, in his home, in Lebanon, Missouri, at the age of fifty-nine years, four months, and twenty-seven days. On April 1, 1971, he was united in marriage to Judith Ann Ruble, and to this union three daughters and one son were born. He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Patricia Porter; two brothers, Ras and Roy Porter; and a sister, Freda Berry. Robert is survived by his wife, Judith, of the home; two daughters, Suzzann Chappie, and her husband, Kip, of Phillipsburg, Missouri, and Martha Porter, of Lebanon, Missouri; a son, Robert E. Porter, of Lebanon, Missouri; three grandchildren, Krystal, Patricia, and Allen; five brothers, Kenneth, Sherman, Jim and Dave Porter, all of Lebanon, Missouri, and Bill Porter, of Charleston, Tennessee; a sister, Wilma Bowling, of Lebanon, Missouri; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends. He was born and raised in the Lebanon area and attended Lebanon Schools. After he and Judith were married, they made their home in Lebanon and lovingly raised their family. Robert worked as a tree trimmer for many years until becoming disabled. Robert followed the Pentecostal faith throughout his life. He sang in a gospel group with his brothers called “Brothers Three” for several years. In his spare time he enjoyed being outdoors where his favorite activities were fishing and hunting as long as he was able. His family was very important to him and he especially enjoyed his grandchildren. Robert was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and will treasure the memories he made for his family and friends. Services will be held at 7:00 pm on Monday May 18, 2009 at the Holman-Howe Funeral Home. Burial will be in Bear Thicket Cemetery. Visitation is Monday evening following the service under the direction of the Holman- Howe Funeral Home Lebanon, Missouri.
