Robert B. Skidmore (Bolivar)'s Obituary
.Robert (Bob) Skidmore age 96 passed away May 3rd at his home in Springfield, Missouri. He had suffered a long illness, but his final moments were peaceful.
Bob was born in Kansas City, Missouri the second of three children of James A. Skidmore and Margaret Carpenter (Smith) Skidmore.
He was a graduate of Humansville High School and the University of Missouri at Columbia. Bob was united in marriage to Charlene Hood Palmer October 16, 1949 and they moved to their farm home near Flemington where they lived and worked together for 55 years. In 2004 they moved to Springfield to be near their daughter Sue Skidmore.
Bob enjoyed his farming life, being outdoors and the beauty of the earth. He also enjoyed working at his Skidmore Insurance Agency. Together, Bob and Charlene enjoyed dancing, water skiing, horseback riding and Lady Bears Basketball games.
Bob was preceded in death by his wife Charlene of 62 years, his parents, his brother James H. Skidmore, and his sister Jane Boatright. He is survived by his daughter Margaret Sue Skidmore of Springfield and brother-in-law Joseph Boatright of King City, Missouri, many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Burial will be in Flemington Cemetery with a graveside service on Saturday, June 11 at 2 p.m.
