Robert Grant Toops (Buffalo)'s Obituary
Robert Grant Toops, son of the late Eli Nelson & Minnie Lula (Boone) Toops, was born on June 21, 1937 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and departed this life on October 27, 2017 in Buffalo, Missouri. At the time of his passing he was 80 years, 4 months and 6 days of age.
Robert was raised in Waynesville, Missouri with three brothers and three sisters. He was united in marriage to Frances Jean Robinson on November 10, 1961 in Wiesbaden, Germany. He served in The United States Air Force for 20 years where he flew with Air Force Two and Vice President Humphrey around the world. He was stationed at Andrews Air Force Base for three years. He worked security at Grand Gulf Nuclear Plant in Grand Gulf, Mississippi for 14 years and retired as a supervisor. Robert and Jeannie lived in Thayer, Missouri for 14 years before spending the last 7 years in Buffalo, Missouri. He lived the last one and a half years of his life at Colonial Springs Care Center in Buffalo, Missouri where he was loved by staff and residents alike. He loved NASCAR (Especially Jeff Gordon), needle work (won 1st place in a competition recently), painting, reading, puzzles and fishing. He was a gentle man with a kind heart, an animal lover and who lead all those close to him by the example set by his compassion, integrity and his work ethic.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Frances Jean Toops; his daughter Debbie Dupree; three brothers, Richard Toops, Ron Toops and Nelson Ray Toops; three sisters, Nadine Anderson, Neline Yates and Carol Sheeley; and one grandchild, Chelsea Dupree. He also leaves many friends and family who will all truly miss him.
