Robert "Bob" G. Beason (Bolivar)'s Obituary
Mr. Robert ‘Bob’ Gayle Beason, age 85 of Bolivar, passed away at 5:05 PM Friday, May 17, 2013 at Cox Medical Center South after a brief illness.
He was born on May 21, 1927 in Mound City, KS the son of Henry Mack Beason and Ruth Velma (Herman) Beason.
Bob was a graduate from Granite City, IL High School in 1945, attended the University of Nebraska 1945-1946 and transferred to the University of Missouri, graduating with a B.A. in Journalism in 1950.
He was united in marriage to Sylvia Elizabeth Toulouse on November 18, 1950 and to this union one son Andrew Toulouse Beason was born on April 29, 1958.
Preceding him is death was his parents, his wife Sylvia and his son Andrew.
Bob was News Editor for the Rolla (MO) Daily Herald in 1950; Sports Editor for the Moberly (MO) Monitor Index 1950-1951; Report, then Copy Editor for the Kansas City Star 1951-1954; Assistant Editor, Mechanics Illustrated 1955-1960 (Fawcett Publishing Company); Editor Electronics Illustrated 1960-1963; Mechanics and Electronics Illustrated, Editor 1963-1993. Bob was also a member of Tau Kappa Epsilon-Sigma Delta Chi and many other professional organizations.
Bob was also a member of the Bolivar Optimist Club.
Bob as mentioned above was a retired Writer and Publisher of various articles and books and had spent most of his life in the field of Journalism. He was a U. S. Navy veteran of World War II and a member of the First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Bolivar.
Bob was united in marriage to Jessie Alberta (Pursley) Wilson on January 26, 1995 at the First Christian Church in Bolivar, MO. They enjoyed traveling and were able to take several cruises together.
Surviving is his wife Jessie Alberta (Pursley) Beason of the couple’s home. One Brother Eugene Beason and wife Joann of Olathe, KS. Also one niece Janice Dyer of Lawrence, KS, one nephew Robert C. Beason of Huron OH, In addition several cousins and a host of many friends.
