Robert "Bob" Wooten (Bolivar)'s Obituary
Robert (Bob) Lee Wooten age 81, of Bolivar, passed away July 5, 2013 in Manor Care nursing home in Springfield, MO following a short illness. He was born January 18, 1932 to Clarence Orville and Ora Ethel (Snodgrass) Wooten in Pleasant Hope, MO. He accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior as a teenager and was later baptized. He was a member of the Walnut Ridge Baptist Church in Van, MO. He was a graduate of Pleasant Hope High School and joined the United States Navy from 1952 to 1956 loving every minute of it as he served his country aboard the USS Hancock aircraft carrier. He was retired from Roadway Express in Springfield, MO. On June 12, 1956 Bob married Peggy Thompson Delany and to this marriage there were four children.
Bob farmed for many years having dairy cows & hogs. He loved spending time outdoors in his garden, telling stories of his Navy days and sharing good memories and laughing about his Roadway buddies. And of course he loved his Bluegrass music, listening to Hank Williams and traveling to Rhonda Vincent concerts.
He is survived by longtime companion Donna Jo Henry, of the home; son and daughter-in-law, Rick and Helen Brown of Springfield; daughters and son-in-laws, Tami Dorman and fiancé Danny Ealy of Camdenton, MO, Debbie Brown Pearcy and husband Ken of Georgetown, TX, and Anita Wooten Dickson and husband Ricky of Brenham, TX; son-in-law, Rick Dorman of Lewisville TX; sister-in-law, Betty Wooten of Pleasant Hope, MO; a sister, Evelyn Painter of Halfway, MO; Peggy Thompson Delaney of Elkhart, IN whom he was married to for 25 yrs ; eight grandchildren, Christy, Abby, Stacey, Nate, Shannon, Amity, Amanda, and Todd; four step-grandchildren, and nine great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and numerous friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Eugene and Burley and a grandson, Cody.
