Roby Ethel Pierce (Lebanon)'s Obituary
Roby Ethel Pierce, daughter of John and Laura Hill Myers, was born July 26, 1915, near Abo, Missouri. She departed this life Saturday, January 26, 2013, in her daughter’s home, near Lebanon, Missouri, at the age of ninety-seven years, and six months.
On June 27, 1940, she was united in marriage to Edmund William Pierce, and to this union one daughter and two sons were born.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Edmund, on November 9, 1997; a daughter-in-law, Elaine Pierce; a son-in-law, William Armstrong; seven brothers, Kirby, Luther, Howard, Ivan, Farmer, Willis, and Ellis Myers; and two sisters, Alta Reid, and Artie Elam.
Roby is survived by a daughter, Judy Armstrong, and a special friend, Ted Myers, of Lebanon, Missouri; two sons, Ronnie Pierce, and his wife, Judy, and Gary Pierce, and his wife, Pat, all of Lebanon, Missouri; nine grandchildren; twenty-two great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Verlin Myers, of Lebanon, Missouri; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
She was born and raised in the Abo, Missouri community. After she and Edmund were married, they made their home near Lebanon, in the Crossroads and Falcon area, and lovingly raised their children. Roby was a devoted and hardworking homemaker to her husband and family and was also the first cook at Gasconade C-4 School.
Roby professed her faith in Christ early in her life and was a longtime active member of Crossroads Freewill Baptist Church.
In her spare time she enjoyed gardening and growing beautiful flowers. She also liked feeding and watching the hummingbirds. She was a fan of Elvis Presley music and particularly liked his gospel songs. Her family was always very important to her and she enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren.
Roby was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, sister, and aunt, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her long life and know that her family and friends will cherish the wonderful memories she created for them throughout the years.
