Rodney Paul Wrinkle (Lebanon)'s Obituary
Rodney Paul Wrinkle was born in 1949 on New Year’s Day to Glenn Edwin Wrinkle and Kathryn Laverne Mizer Wrinkle in Lebanon, Missouri. He passed into eternal rest on Thursday, December 14, 2023 in Mercy Hospital in Springfield, Missouri. He was seventy-four years, eleven months and thirteen days of age.
Rodney grew up in Lebanon and was a 1966 graduate of Lebanon High School. Following graduation, he attended Mid-America Nazarene University in Olathe, Kansas.
He was employed at Rice Stix in Lebanon and Coca-Cola Bottling Company in Lebanon before moving to Kansas where he was a police officer and worked in construction. His career in construction led him to start his own drywall business which he successfully operated for twenty years.
In 2009, he returned to Lebanon and on March 7, 2009, he was united in marriage to Cheryl Plaster Schaefer. They purchased the historic Wrink’s Market on Route 66 in Lebanon. Rodney also started his business, Rodney Wrinkle Cutting Horses. He took great pride in his award winning horses.
One of his favorite hobbies was restoring vintage vehicles. He was meticulous in his attention to detail in working on old cars and bringing them back to their original glory. He appreciated their history.
Rodney was a lifetime member of First United Methodist Church in Lebanon.
He was preceded in death by his parents; the mother of his children, Nobue and his sister, Kimberly Ann.
Rodney is survived by his wife, Cheryl; their children, Katherine Wrinkle of Lebanon, Missouri, Jeramy Wrinkle and wife, Heather of Overland Park, Kansas, Sarah Jo Carney and husband, Jason, of Lebanon, Missouri, Douglas Schaefer and his wife, Jennifer, of Merriam, Kansas, Samantha Schaefer Cooper and her husband, Derek of Springfield, Missouri and Rex Schaefer and his fiance, Chrissy St. Martin of Lebanon, Missouri; his grandchildren, Abbigail Suess of Lebanon, Missouri, Kimberly Suess of Springfield, Missouri, Alexis Hapner of Lebanon, Missouri, Dallas Wrinkle, Jaminsen Wrinkle and Myla Wrinkle, all of Overland Park, Kansas; six additional grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; his brothers, Eddie Wrinkle and his wife, Tabitha of McAllister, Oklahoma, Terry Wrinkle and his wife, Cheryl of Marshfield, Missouri and Tommy Wrinkle of Madison, Mississippi; and his sister, Kris Klamm and her husband, Richard of Madison, Mississippi.
Rodney always liked to tell the story that he had to share his birthday. Not only was he born on New Year’s Day, but so were his father and his two sisters. They enjoyed celebrating many birthdays together.
He loved his family and was a big part of each one of their lives. His loss is deeply felt by his family and friends and he will be so missed.
Services for Rodney Paul Wrinkle will be Monday, December 18 at 2 p.m. at First United Methodist Church in Lebanon. Visitation will be Monday, December 18 from noon until 2 p.m. in the church. Burial will be in the Plaster Family Mausoleum.
A memorial has been established to the St. Joseph’s Indian School in South Dakota or the American Red Cross and donations may be made through the funeral home.
