Les Lindgren
My name is Les Lindgren. I live in Clermont ,Florida. In 1958 Illinois gave permission to 15 year old young people to ride a motor scooter. You use to be 16 and have a driver license. Roger bought a black Cushman Eagle. I bought a white Cushman Eagle. We rode together all over the map in Illinois. We enjoyed racing against Vespa scooters. We could hit 70 mph and the vespas only 65. I went to Downers Grove High and Roger went to Naperville High. After school we would meet in Naperville at the A&W and have a cold large mug of root beer for .35 cents. We went to the gas station and bought gas for .36 cents a gallon. Roger lived in Naperville,Ill with his mother. His dad lived in Downers Grove,Ill . Roger liked to work on cars and scooters. When he got his drivers liscense we would take his moms 1960 new buick and go to TOPS Big Boy restaurant in Downers Grove. When Roger visited his dad in Downers Grove he would use his dads new Chev pick up. Delores had fallen in love with Roger in high school. He took her out at times and we even double dated. Her mom would drive her to his dads house so she could see Roger. A number of times Roger would shut the garage door as though he wasn't there. He and I were inside and didn't make a sound. When she left we took the Chev. pick up and went out to TOPS again. He just did not want to be out with her every waking minute. He liked her but just wanted to go out with some other girls. She was about the only one that he went out with at the time. I remember going over to see Roger at his mothers house. He was not there . He was at Edwards hospital in Naperville because he temporarily had gone blind. He was welding something for about an hour and did not use a welding mask. That was Roger. I have tried to contact him the last 2 years ,but could not get a phone no. I am sorry to see that he passed away. WE had great times together. I also sorry to hear that Delores passed away. I would like to talk to one of his sons and talk about what Roger and Delores did for the last 50 years. There is a picture in the obit. of Roger and Delores .Needles to say they look different. So do I. If you would be interested in talking to me my cell no. is 352-250-3049 I would love to talk to one of you.
