Roger Duncan's Obituary
Roger Wayne Duncan, son of Kenneth Lee and Opal Loraine Roberts Duncan, was born July 9, 1948, in Berkley, California. He departed this life Wednesday, September 3, 2008, in St. John’s Regional Health Center, Springfield, Missouri at the age of sixty years, one month, and twenty-five days. On June 28, 1983, Roger was united in marriage to Sandra Lynn Thompson, and together they have shared the past twenty-five years. He was preceded in death by his parents. Roger is survived by his loving wife, Sandy, of the home; his children, Brandon Duncan, of Springfield, Missouri, Brian Duncan, who is currently serving the United States Air Force, stationed in North Dakota, and Corinne Tate, of Brentwood, California; one grandson, Nicholas Orman; three sisters, Diane Kimmich, and her husband, Rick, of Tampa, Florida, Sherry Vadnais and Debbie Duncan, both of the State of California; two brothers, Steve Duncan, and his wife, Janisa, and Billy Duncan, and his wife, Minnie, all of the State of California; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Martin and Eva Thompson of Seymour, Missouri; and his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Marty and Lisa Thompson of Arcola, Missouri; a number of nieces and nephews; and many dear friends. Roger was born in California and had lived in various locations throughout his life. He spent time working in construction as a pipe-fitter, and proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1967 to 1969 during the Vietnam War. Roger and Sandy moved to the Seymour area eight years ago where they owned and operated the Video Station. He had accepted Christ as his personal Lord and Savior and was a member of the Palmer Heights Baptist Church in Springfield, Missouri. Roger was a hard worker and an avid fisherman. In his spare time, he enjoyed playing guitar, as well as wood working and taking care of his yard. He also loved spending time with his family and friends. Roger was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, son-in-law and brother-in-law, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and accomplishments and will treasure the wonderful memories he has created for his family and friends. Services will be at 2:00 pm Monday September 8, 2008 at the Holman- Howe Funeral Home, Seymour. Burial will be in the Seymour Masonic Cemetery.
