Roger D. Holland (Buffalo)'s Obituary
Roger Dale Holland, age 69, of Urbana, Missouri, entered into rest on Thursday, September 7, 2023, at Cox South Hospital in Springfield, Missouri.
Roger was born on February 9, 1954, in Fresno, California to the late Hubert Wayne and Juliette (Cantrell) Holland. Roger was an outdoorsman. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping. Roger was united in marriage to Barbara Sharon McGaha on November 3, 1986, in Reno, Nevada. Together they traveled coast to coast hauling dry goods, produce, and cattle. Roger would often say that Barb was more than a wife, she was his best friend.
Roger was a dedicated and hard worker. He farmed on a piece of land south of Urbana. He raised cattle and goats. Roger was rather fond of his goats, taking time to build them a playground. Watching them jump and play brought him great joy. Off the farm, Roger could be found at the sale barn, buying and selling cattle.
Roger was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend. His oldest daughter describes him as the strongest man she has ever known. He had a huge heart and always cared for others, putting them first with no judgment. He will be missed by all.
He was preceded by his parents and brothers Donald and Stephen Holland. Roger is survived by his wife, Barbara Holland, children Rochelle Weinstein and husband Bradley, Michael Holland, Amy Holland, stepchildren Kimberly Nuner, Kelly Shumaker and wife Veronica, and Keith Shumaker and wife Barb, grandchildren Trevor, Reeve, Logan, Lexie, and Hailey, step grandchildren Mia, Kristina, Mike, Helena, and Trinton. One sister-in-law, Diana Holland, two nephews Dustin Holland and wife Estelle, and Donovan Holland and wife Kristen, as well as numerous extended family members and beloved friends.
There will be no formal services at this time. In accordance with Roger’s wishes, his body will be cremated and placed with his beloved brother Donald.
