Roger Parker (Lebanon)'s Obituary
Roger James Parker, son of Escol J. and Mary Parker, was born September 10, 1944, in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan. He departed this life Sunday, July 17, 2016, in Lebanon South Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, in Lebanon, Missouri, at the age of seventy-one years, ten months, and seven days.
His parents preceded him in death.
Roger is survived by a son, Shawn Parker, of Bartlesville, Oklahoma; a daughter, Shelly McPeak, and her husband, Joe, of Chelsea, Oklahoma; a grandson, Joseph McPeak; two sisters, Terry Jones, of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, and Sharon Parker, of Glenpool, Oklahoma; a number of nieces and nephews; a friend, LuAnne Post, of Conway, Missouri; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
He was raised in Oklahoma and graduated from Broken Arrow High School. He entered the military as a young man and served his country faithfully in the United States Air Force from 1962 until he was honorably discharged in 1966. He was stationed in Japan for part of his time in the Air Force. He then moved to the Tulsa, Oklahoma area where he worked as a welder and a truck driver. He moved to Ash Grove, Missouri and became the foreman of Post Quarter Horse Ranch for twenty years. In addition to taking care of the horse breeding ranch, he raised American Dutch Bantam chickens. He was an active board member of the American Dutch Bantam Society. He had a great love for horses and was especially skilled at showing and training horses. He had an extensive knowledge of equine and poultry breeding. After moving to Conway, Missouri, he worked at the Marshfield Wal Mart Store for eleven years.
He had a giving heart and there was no limit to his generosity.
Roger was a loving father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and know that he will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by all those who knew and loved him
