Rollin Loomis' Obituary
Rollin David Loomis, son of Walter Hiram and Lulu Stone Loomis, was born April 10, 1915 in Iola, Kansas. He departed this life Wednesday, October 11, 2006, in the Hartville Care Center, in Hartville, Missouri, at the age of ninety-one years, six months, and one day. On November 7, 1933 he was united in marriage to (Lena) Evelyn Milligan. He was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn; his parents; one brother, Elmer W. Loomis; and two sisters, Bessie O. Powers, and Mabel C. Moses. Rollin is survived by one son, Robert E. Loomis, of Hartville, Missouri; one daughter, Marlene Cates, of Hartville, Missouri; four granddaughters, Cheryl Thornburg, of Omaha, North Carolina, Cyndi Callen, of Oak Grove, Arkansas, Janice Ring, of Avondale, Arizona, and Michele Gooding, of Mesa, Arizona; six great-grandchildren, Robert and Russell Dempsey, Amanda Vaterlaus, Taylor Lawrence, Jessica and Dillion Ring; five great-great-grandchildren, Kaitlin, Alexander, Madison, Donavan, and Alayna Dampsey; also many other relatives and friends. He was born in Iola, Kansas and then moved with his parents to Springfield, Missouri where his father worked in the publishing and printing industry. After his marriage, Rollin and Evelyn made their home in Wichita, Kansas, then moving to Phoenix, Arizona where he worked in the space and aircraft industries until settling in Hartville, Missouri in 1970. Rollin was an ardent student of the Bible and witnessed throughout his life of the love and redemption he had received through Jesus Christ his Lord and was very supportive of mission works in both home and over seas areas. He enjoyed various crafts and music and was a devoted husband and father. Rollin will be fondly remembered as a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, caring relative and friend. Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, October 14, 2006, in the Holman-Howe Chapel, Hartville. Burial will be in Steele Memorial Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home at their convenience. Services are under the direction of Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Hartville, Missouri.
