Ron Mallary (Mansfield)'s Obituary
Ronald Harold Mallary, son of Harold James and Marlys Maxine Rathbun Mallary, was born August 25, 1944 in Independence, Iowa, and departed this life on March 1, 2015 in Heart of the Ozarks Healthcare Center in Ava, Missouri, at the age of seventy years, six months and six days.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Yvonne Lusk; brother, Robert Mallary; niece, Gwen Johnson; and nephew, Dennis Mallary.
Ron is survived by his son, Shane Mallary and wife, Monica of Black Hawk, South Dakota; sister, Cheryl Paxton and husband, Jesse of Mansfield, Missouri; step-son, Devin Drew of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; a special friend, Keith Blume of Custer, South Dakota; as well as several nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.
He grew up in Independence, Iowa where he graduated from Independence Jefferson High School in the Class of 1962. After graduating, he began working for the railroad in Des Moines, Iowa then for Iowa Steel and Manufacturing in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He became a police officer in Cedar Rapids and worked there for 14 years. He was also an auctioneer. At age 50, he went to college in Brookings, South Dakota where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in business and management. Due to poor health he moved to the Mansfield area in 2012 to be near his sister and her family.
Ron was of the Wesleyan Methodist faith and had attended Mt. Zion Church of God Holiness after moving to Mansfield.
In his spare time he had many things he enjoyed doing, including hunting, fishing, cooking, photography, woodworking and collecting antiques.
Ron was a loving father, brother, uncle and a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and will cherish the wonderful memories we had with him.
