Ron Sills (Lebanon)'s Obituary
Ronald “Ronie” Dean Sills, son of Pete and Dorothy Miller Sills, was born February 1, 1947, in Watonga, Oklahoma. He departed this life Saturday, April 11, 2020, in Roberts Hospital at Baylor University Medical Center, in Dallas, Texas, at the age of seventy-three years, two months, and ten days.
On March 8, 1980, he was united in marriage to Karen Aline Trammell and they recently celebrated their 40th anniversary.
Awaiting him in heaven were his parents; a sister, Cheryl Munholland; and an aunt, Eunice Desjardin.
Ron is survived by his loving wife, Karen, of the home; his three children, Dena Sills, of Lubbock, Texas, Zackery Sills, and his wife, Jenny, of Amarillo, Texas, and Brianna Sills, of Amarillo, Texas; his six grandchildren, Chase Stewart, Tye Edwards, and his wife, Brittney, Katie Sills, Nicholas Sills, Aiden Sills, and Olivia Sills; his two great-grandchildren, Lainnye and Kase Edwards; his best friend and brother-in-law, Dean Munholland, of Lebanon, Missouri; nieces and nephews, Deanie Munholland and Julie, Kelli Munholland Conway and Mike, Gene Munholland and Anna, and Tasha Rodden and David; several great-nieces and great-nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and many friends.
He was raised in Oklahoma, Missouri and Texas, and graduated from Shallowater High School in Shallowater, Texas, in the Class of 1965. He began working as a salesman at West Texas Peterbilt in Lubbock, Texas, in 1972. The company moved him to Amarillo in 1979, and he retired after thirty-four years as the manager and a partner with West Texas Peterbilt alongside Milton and Betty Henson, Jim and Diane Henson, and Tom and Patti Sprawls. On January 27, 2017, Ron received the gift of life in a lung transplant. His daughter, Dena, named her “Loretta Lung”, and she blessed him and his family with three more years of life.
Ron and Karen were members of Hillside Christian Church in Amarillo, Texas. Ron was a Master Mason in the San Jacinto Masonic Lodge #1330 A.F. and A.M. He enjoyed monthly luncheons with his high school classmates and attending Texas Tech football games and watching the Dallas Cowboys. He was a member of Tascosa Golf Club and loved playing Gin. He collected and restored antique automobiles, loved car shows and won several ribbons for his 1956 F-100 (Best Ford Truck Class Winner in 2017), 1956 Fairlane, and 1956 Thunderbird.
Ron was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and was a caring friend. We celebrate his life and know that his family and friends will hold tight to the wonderful memories he made for them during his lifetime.
