Ronald Ray Heathman (Buffalo)'s Obituary
Ronald Ray Heathman, son of Fines and Billie (Rimmer) Heathman, was born on April 7, 1934, in Tulare, California and departed this life on Friday, September 9, 2022, at the Colonial Springs Healthcare Facility in Buffalo, Missouri. He was at the time of his passing 88 years, five months, and two days of age.
Ron was raised and graduated high school in Exeter, California. He later attended a college in Visalia, California. On April 2, 1955, Ron was married to Betty Lou Snodgrass in his hometown; and to this union were three children.
Ron worked for Betz Packing Company shipping fruit for 6+ years. Then between the years of 1961 and 1984 Ron would work for two different ranches in the area. Between the two ranches he oversaw the shipping and cold storage of the fruit they grew. In 1984 Ron and the family would pack-up and move to Urbana, Missouri. He then began his career with Wal-Mart and worked from a part-time position to head of his own department. He was very good at what he did and received several honors and rewards for his work. He enjoyed his work there until his retirement at the age of 72, which would give him a 21-year career with the company.
Ron was known for being a simple and caring man. He knew what he liked, and he liked things to be done right the first time around. He also found enjoyment in gardening and feeding the local birds, squirrels, and deer. The animals came to visit so much he had names for all of the squirrels.
Ron was preceded in death by his parents; two children, Andrew Heathman and Robin Moroni; and one brother, Gary Heathman. He is survived by his wife, Betty (Snodgrass) Heathman; one daughter, Sherry Vogel; one brother, Steven Heathman; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and many other family and friends who will miss him dearly.
Cremation rites are being accorded by the Cantlon-Otterness & Viets Funeral Home in Buffalo, Missouri., and memorial services will be announced at a later date.
