Ronald Lee Scott (Seymour)'s Obituary
Ronald Lee Scott, devoted husband of Carol Lane Scott, departed this life Friday, April 25, 2014, at Mercy Hospital in Springfield after a long, courageous battle with cancer. He was seventy-five years, eight months and eight days young.
Ron was born August 17, 1938, in Seymour, Missouri. He was a graduate of the Seymour High School Class of 1957. He married Carol Lane Hutchinson on July 2, 1960, and to this union three sons were born.
Ron is survived by his wife of over 52 years, Carol (Hutchinson) Scott of the home in Springfield; sons, Brent Scott of Fukushima, Japan; Barry Scott and wife Jennifer, of Raymore, Missouri; and Bradley Scott of Fukushima, Japan; grandson, Gabriel Scott of Japan, and granddaughter, Ashley Scott, of Raymore; brother, Harold Scott and wife Joyce, of Seymour, Missouri; brother, Dennis Hyder of Marshfield, Missouri; sister, Sandra McNish and husband Bill, of Buffalo, Missouri; sister, Sheryl Hyder of Seymour, Missouri; and special aunt, Dorothy Scott also of Seymour; and many nieces and nephews whom loved him dearly.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Ola Scott Hyder; grandmother, Lottie Miller; brother, Jimmie Hyder; and many aunts and uncles.
Ron proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1958 to 1962. He then worked many years as a sales representative throughout Missouri and neighboring states. He was a Christian and attended South Haven Baptist Church where, for many years, he was a greeter. Ron was an avid sports fan and coached many of his sons’ basketball and baseball games. He especially enjoyed watching MSU Bears basketball. Ron never met a stranger and always had a great sense of humor.
Ron was a wonderful husband, a dedicated father and loving grandfather. His memory will be cherished by all who were blessed enough to know him, until we meet again.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made to the Seymour YMCA Pool Fund or to a charity of their choice.
